Anxiety

Anxiety is a feeling of apprehension or dread in situations where there is no real threat.

It is normal for people to experience short periods of anxiety as it’s a normal response to stressors in our lives, however, some may experience anxiety for longer periods and for no apparent reason which can affect their lives daily.

Together, we can understand your thoughts and feelings so they feel less overwhelming. Whether you have been experiencing anxiety long-term or it is something recent, we work collaboratively to explore what may be happening at a deeper level.

You may be doubting yourself more than usual, have a lack of concentration and struggling to sleep, increasing your levels of worry and anxiety. As we learn more about you we find coping tools to suit your individual needs towards helping you feel calmer, connected and more present. You will feel better equipped to face challenges in your life and more able to approach relationships.

We take time to identify the type of unhelpful thought, eg. catastrophising, mind reading, blackand-white thinking etc. that leaves you feeling on edge, tense or stuck. In a non-judgemental space, we begin to understand what’s making you feel unsafe, increase your self-awareness and understand what has happened or what is happening and how your body is triggered into a survival response as your body reacts to fear.

You may be questioning your imagination and what’s real and what isn’t, quite often, we believe our prediction is true, this can be a lonely place leaving you feeling confused and exhausted. I aim to offer a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard and understood as your reality becomes clearer and a new sense of self emerges.

Throughout our work together, we teach the brain to act differently, and we build new neural pathways throughout the therapeutic process to help control anxiety symptoms, this allows you to begin to feel more present and regain joy in everyday things.
